Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck; September 26 1926 - October 18 in 2000) was an American actor and singer with a career that spanned over 40 years. London was a torch performer famous for her soft, pleasant singing voice and languid contralto was a recording artist on more than thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 and 1969. Her recording of "Cry me a river", a track she released on her debut album was admitted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for 1974 due to her performance in Emergency as nurse Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career of 35 years began in the film industry in 1944. It included roles in the lead female role in a variety of westerns. In the mid-1950s, she signed a recording contract with Liberty Records, marking the beginning of her professional career. Her final studio album in the year 1969, however, she was able to continue to make a name for herself as the role of a female nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency! (1972-1979) She starred alongside her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband was the producer of the show.
